About Our Schools

 

As a rural community with a rich, historic, Ozark heritage, East Carter offers a beautiful and wholesome residential setting in the Mark Twain National Forest and along the Current River. East Carter County R-II School District is located in the city of Ellsinore, Missouri approximately 25 miles west of Poplar Bluff in the foot hills of the Missouri Ozarks. The district's boundaries encompass 281 square miles and extends across 4 counties. Our student population is over 700 students from surrounding communities such as Ellsinore, Hunter, and Grandin.
 
The East Carter County R-II School District is an accelerated school district that provides an academic climate designed to benefit all students. A solid curriculum - coupled with a well-rounded activities program - prepares our students for a lifetime of learning.
